| Sad photo of a once fast moving 2-8-2 Mikado type steam locomotive that served the Milwaukee Road for nearly 33 years now sitting in the scrap line at the Bensenville Yard. Built by Baldwin in November of 1920 as MILW 8238, it was renumbered in 6/1938 to MILW #538. Retirement came in December of 1953 with scrapping later. Specs - 63" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x30" cylinders, engine wt of 287,600 lb, tractive effort of 54,723 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo. |
