BO 4-4-2 #1442 - Baltimroe & Ohio
Long before an EMD E8A loco wore the #1442, this 4-4-2 Atlantic type steam locomotive had the nonor. This small 4-4-2 Atlantic type steam locomotive was built by Baldwin in March of 1910 as B&O #1442. The original drivers were massive 80" ones but during a rebuilt in March of 1918, they were reduced to 74" drivers. After nearly 32 years of service, the loco was retired in May of 1942 and presumedly scrapped. Rebuilt specs - 74" drivers, 205 psi boiler presure, 22x26" cylinders, engine wt of 212,260 lb and tractive effort of 29,600 lb. This is a C.C. Grayson photo. No exact date was given for the photo so an approximate was used.
