PRR 5436, K-4S, 1938         
Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Timonium, Maryland, on 9 June 1938. Shown here are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #5436 and #5419. Both are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works. #5436 was constructed in March of 1927 and retired in November of 1955, while #5419 was built in February of 1927 and retired in March of 1949. On #5436, note the modified cylinders and lack of valve gear. Gary Mittner Collection.
