The diesel was purchased by the Northwest Suburban Mass Thansit District with a federal grant for the Milwaukee Road Commuter Service. At this point both the cars and diesel belonged to the Northeastern Illinois Regional Transportation Authority (RTA). The RTA commuter service throughout the Chicago suburbs would become known as Metra (a contraction of Metropolitan Rail). |
