This car is new to RRPA noted in the previous photo of TOYX 1927. Hisotoet of TOYX 1927 Model 50ft Boxcar 5,347 cubic feet, Built Novembe 1977 Builder FMC Corporatin Portland, OR. Passt RR Owners; Meridian & Bigbee, Marquette Rail, Laurinburg & Southern, Columbus & greenville, Alabama & Gulf Coast, Current Owner TOYX Kenvil, NJ This car was acquired byMarquetette Rail in Novemebr 2007, adn became their MQT 1042. It went to the Laurinburg & Southern in April 2017 as LRS 7933 and was again transferred to the Columbus & Greenville in June of 2023 as their CAGY 7933. Control fo this car was eventually acquired by the Alabama & Gulf Coast RWY, a subsidiary of the Genesee & Wyoming. AGR donated this car to TOYX in October 2025. Last time I was at the Illinois Railway Museum, I learned that these Pullman cars often had two sets of crewmembers on them--conductors from the railroad to take your ticket, and conductors employed by Pullman to help you navigate the car. For years, Pullman was the gold standard in rail travel in the US. |
