WAB 4-8-4 #2900 - Wabash RR |
Description: |
Great example of a Baldwin 4-8-4 Northern type steam locomotive built in June of 1930 as Wabash #2900. The loco lasted until being scrapped in November of 1955 after nearly 25 years. The photo appears to be the scrap line since the bell and main rod have already been removed. Specs - serial #61417, class 01, 70" drivers, 29 x 32" cylinders, impressive 250 psi boiler pressure, engine weight of 454,090 lbs and a tractive effort of 70,817 lb. No date, location or photographer was given for the photo but my "guess-timation" puts it at Decatur, IL around its scrap date of 11/1955. |
