WE 6350 (2)
Title:  WE 6350 (2)
Description:  The power from Wheeling and Lake Erie working another autorack train in Connellsville, under some very moody skies just before dark. The engines here are being used for yard switching. The autoracks are for train Q253 to Ohio, and the power did not go with it. At one time this was indeed an SD45, as seen by the body style but is now an SD40-2. It was formerly KCS 631 and CNW 955.

WE 6350 (3)
Title:  WE 6350 (3)
Description:  A CSX crew "borrowing" this SD40-3 of the Wheeling and Lake Erie, using it for the Y101 yard job. Upon hearing that a W&LE ore train had arrived into town from Rook, the conductor or engineer was heard saying on the scanner: "Uh oh, now we're in trouble. Here comes the Wheeling guys. The W&LE is going to catch us and fine or something for using their engine." There was a good laugh on the scanner, after that one. This engine has the body of an SD45 because at one time it was one. Formerly KCSX 631 and CNW 955.

WE 3068, 7377, 6347
Title:  WE 3068, 7377, 6347
Description:  The Connellsville CSX yard is looking more like the W&LE Rook Yard, with the full ore train K110-27 passing the empty ore train K110-26. The empty has come back from Sparrows Point, Md, and the full one is headed there, eventually. Note that there is a crew in the second engine as well as the first one. I thought that was rather odd.

WE 3102
Title:  WE 3102
Description:  Empty ore train K111-06 going west on Track 43 through the CSX yard in Connellsville. I did not expect it to be sent in on this track and it caught me off guard. It would have been shadowed on the other side of the autroracks so its probably for the best. This is one of the SD40-3 Brewster Shop rebuilds and is a former UP 3102 SD40 built in 1971. The train stopped down at the west end of the yard and the crew left.

The Banning Bridge
Title:  The Banning Bridge
Description:  Rising 160 feet into the sky, this is one of many landmark bridges used by the Wheeling and Lake Erie Railway. Construction on it began in 1930 for the Pittsburgh and West Virginia Railroad which eventually became the Norfolk and Western in 1964. Starting in 1990, the Wheeling and Lake Erie took over the line which might have otherwise been abandoned.

Title:  Wheeling and Lake Erie 32 Crane Truck (1)

WE 3102, 6311, and 6381
Title:  WE 3102, 6311, and 6381
Description:  Another ore train heads east on CSX trackage along Water Street in Connellsville. I wanted an angle more to the left on the river side but an autorack train fouled me yet again. This was taken from the Crawford Avenue Bridge. After going under the bridge, the train stopped briefly to throw the switch to 43 Track. Then it went through the yard and got held at Greene Junction in South Connellsville. Looks like all the railfans in Maryland will have another W&LE treat sent their way.
