Here are the yard office and engine terminal at Lake Charles yard. SW1500 2472 and MP15AC 2709 are coupled cab-to-cab, while SW1500 2669 is by itself. The track curving off to the right was once the beginning of the branch to Deridder.

Dale Weir General Notice the track with the single empty gondola on it, next to the microwave tower. In the 60's we used to tie up a caboose there every other night, after a typical 15.5 hour day. The trainmen would bring ice onto the cab. plug the screen wire holes with cotton, let down the bunks and sleep a few hours before heading back to Beaumont the next day.
