"Piggyback Performance," Page 46, 1960
Here is page one of a five-page camera study by Don Wood entitled "Piggyback Performance: Pennsy's TT1." It was published originally in the July 1960 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 46. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4804 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both are GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electrics rated at 4,620 horsepower each. #4804 was built by General Electric during June of 1935 and retired in June of 1966 after 31 years of faithful service. In this context, they're preparing to pull PRR's TT-1 out of Kearny, New Jersey, on the first leg of its 900-mile/26-hour journey to Chicago, Illinois.
