Union Pacific 1654
UP 1654 drillls the yard as the sun sets on the mountains in Tucson. 1654 was built in 1980 for UP as the 3761. This unit was one of the Safety Slogan units. with UPs iconic slogans featured prominently on the engineers side of the engine. These were removed by the 1990s, and in the early 2010s the unit was withdrawn, rebuilt with new electronics into an SD40N, and renumbered to 1654. Since its rebuild, it has served mostly in Nevada and Arizona in various switching jos.
