Description:  Built by Baldwin in April of 1926, this 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive was a strong puller on the B&O roster for nearly 27 years. As diesels took over the B&O roster, this loco was finally sold for scrap in December of 1953. Original specs - 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine wt of 436,510 lb and tractive effort of 84,300 lb. No date, location or photographer was listed for this photo so approximates were used.

Description:  Built by Baldwin in May of 1926 as part of the last order for 2-10-2's by B&O, the locomotive continued to prove its worth in hauling cars through the Allegheny Mountains for nearly 27 years. It met the scrapper's torch when sold for scrap in October of 1953. Specs - S-1a class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 436,510 lb, tractive effort of 84,300 lb. No dater, location or photographer was listed for the photo.

Description:  In the last batch of 2-10-2's ordered from Baldwin by the Baltimore & Ohio, BO #6219 was built in May of 1926 (serial #59186). Sadly to make room for new diesels, this loco was assigned a new number of BO 537in 1956 but never actually renumbered as it was retired and scrapped in 1957. Specs - S-1a class, 64" drivers, 220 psi boiler pressure, 30x32" cylinders, engine weight of 436,510 lb, tractive effort of 84,300 lb. No photographer was listed for this photo.

Title:  BO 2-10-2 #6222 - Baltimore & Ohio
Description:  This solid looking 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive was built by Baldwin in May of 1926 as BO #6222. In 1951, the loco was rebuilt with a solid frame, light weight pistons, rods and crossheads and reclassified as S-1b, one of only two to get this special test rebuild. In 1956, it was renumbered BO 538. After nearly 33 years of dedicated service to the B&O, the loco was scrapped in 1959. Ralph G. Dunn collection

Description:  Fair quality photo of Baltimore & Ohio 2-10-2 #6222. This Santa Fe type steam locomotive was built by Baldwin in May of 1926 originally as B&O class S-1a 2-10-2 #6222. However in 1951, the loco was selected for a specialized rebuild using a solid frame, lightweight pistons, rods and crossheads. It was reclassified as class S-1b, only one of two in the class. It was renumbered B&O #538 in 1956 and eventually scrapped in 1959. An unknown photographer took this photo while it was parked near the Cumberland, MD, station.
