Shown here is a portion of the storage yard at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop. Prominent here is PRR engine #4230, an I-1SA (2-10-0) "Decapod" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an I-1S during June of 1923, rebuilt in this very Shop as an I-1SA in August of 1934, and retired in October of 1959 after 36 years of faithful service. In the middle foreground is Maintenance-of-Way flatcar #495955; stored on its deck is a new cast-steel trailing truck which, at this point in history, may never be installed. In the foreground are numerous high-grade steel steam locomotive driving wheels, tires, and axles ~ most of which will never be installed.

Engine #9113 is a BS-6A built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in August of 1948, rated at 660 horsepower, and retired in May of 1966 after just 18 years of revenue service.
